A Sentimental Family Maternity Photoshoot at a Childhood Home
When it comes to any type of photo shoot, I always encourage my clients to choose a location or an activity that is sentimental. A place or activity that will always hold a special place in your heart. So, when you look back at these photos, you will see a story, not just a moment. So, when this lovely family asked me to take their sentimental family maternity photoshoot at the home he grew up in, I was hooked and now this session just lives rent-free in my head.
Capturing Documentary-Style Childhood Home Maternity Photos
This was the raddest, most chill, different at-home maternity session. We knew we wanted something lowkey because the boys aren’t the biggest camera dudes. So we made it as comfortable as we could for them while creating all the magic. We took their photos at the property and house that the dad grew up in. His parents still currently live there, so now he gets to spend tons of time there with his little family. So, it was a no-brainer to capture their session there.
We had the best time…making Dad clean spider webs from chairs, running around, and getting sketchy on the trailer. Their little boy had the freedom to run around and just be a kid. They loved up on each other, ran around, and it was the perfect session for this little family. It was very THEM and that’s what I loved most about it.
We also capture some STUNNING solo shots of Kayla that are just everything. She is just so iconic and these photos show exactly that.
Ever since I met Kayla when she was pregnant with her son, we vibed. She gets me and my creative brain and trusts me to execute photos that tell a story about Kayla and her family in this chapter of life.
